The 2010 FIFA World Cup
The nineteenth FIFA World Cup of Football will take place between 11th June and 11th July 2010 in South Africa. Following the qualification process, 31 teams will participate in the final tournament together with South Africa, which automatically qualifies as the host nation.

There will be ten venues for the competition, five stadiums specially built for the tournament and five existing stadiums. The country has also upgraded its public transport infrastructure in the different cities, and intends to implement special measures to ensure that the safety and security of local and international tourists attending the matches complies with standard FIFA requirements. There have been significant delays in the construction of the new stadiums. |
