SIMA A show that is losing its appeal for the irrigation professionals

Within the context of a very favourable business environment and an increasing number of international visitors, the 2019 SIMA show, a leading international trade fair for the suppliers of the agricultural and livestock sector, closed its doors on a positive note! 230,000 professionals from all over the world (the same number as in 2017) attended the event at Paris Nord Villepinte so as to become acquainted with the latest innovations, share the challenges facing world agriculture and find concrete responses that are adapted to their everyday work.

Didier Guillaume, Minister of Food and Agriculture, who was there to open the show on Sunday 24th February 2019, took the opportunity to reaffirm his support for the sector and emphasise the importance of new solutions dedicated to the development of agro-ecology.
With a rise in the number of international exhibitors (+12.5% and 42 countries represented), 25% of its visitors coming from 140 countries and their 400 international delegations, SIMA’s positioning on the international stage is ever more established. “We have noted that the quality of the French innovation has brought to SIMA a number of ‘agrimanagers’ from America and Eastern Europe”, commented Xavier Faure, co-founder of Piloter sa Ferme (Manage your Farm).
As a reflection of the main concerns facing world agriculture, SIMA has organised a number of conferences and events, attracting more than 2,000 people, including very interesting panel discussions on the major issues of world agriculture, such as organic farming, the cultivation systems of tomorrow, agriculture in today’s digital world, livestock farming and agricultural technology (AgTech). Irrigation professionals have, nevertheless, lamented the fact that the irrigation section has become smaller and smaller, and thus exhibiting at Sima has become less attractive for them, given the high cost of the stands. They also noticed a lack of international visitors, but in any case, they didn’t come for this reason alone; it was still possible to meet a lot of people and some manufacturers organised certain events with their distributors.
We were able to find out about the new products presented by the manufacturers, which included a new range of Elite hose reels from Otech-Irrimec, Chamsa’s new ranges of Ultra Drip and Aqua Pro, a new mobile phone App from Agralis, Irrifrance’s new 3070 hose reel and, finally, Senninger’s new I-Wob 2 wobbler sprinkler for pivots.
