Netafim, a pioneer and world leader in drip irrigation solutions, could be bought by a Chinese billionaire, the chairman of Dayu, Haoyu Wang.
Netafim, an Israeli irrigation pioneer founded in 1965, has been majority-owned (80%) by the Mexican group Orbia (formerly Mexichem) since 2018. The kibbutz Hatzerim, its historical founder, retains the remaining 20% of the company.
According to our information, Orbia is considering selling Netafim, with rumors of acquisition by Chinese interests or private funds.
Netafim is now the world leader in localized irrigation, which allows for greater watering efficiency combined with significant water savings.
Netafim is the world's largest manufacturer of micro-irrigation system (MIS) components, with a 30% market share.
Netafim has a strong presence in China, notably through an ISO-certified production plant in Yinchuan (Ningxia). In China, the company provides precision solutions, cutting-edge technologies, and local agronomic support to improve crop yields while saving water.
